I find life to be super stimulating. I never actually get bored, and I have grown up in America. Thus, I know how cool capitalism can be, as long as we have a sense of control, in what we do. Being able to control our own sense of finance, and being able to bring in money, at our own pace, it really is a gift. Overall, a lot of things are possible, and that’s why I read everyday, because I know so many potentials exist. At this moment, I am working as a Steel Detailing Engineer, at Mohawk Northeast. Thus, reading the book, [[Confessions of a Recovering Engineer]] was a right fit. I was able to finish this book, and have gained some admiration for [[Charles Marohn]], who wrote this book. He is an Engineer, and his perspective on a lot of the topics related to engineering are pretty fascinating.
Moreover, I think Mr. Marohn, as an engineer, is pretty interesting. I have a lot of admiration for people that can write books. Furthermore, I also know that Mr. Marohn has a prolific writing history as well. Thus, reading this book, it was a curiosity quest for me, since I also am in the engineering field, although I started with Architecture education. I find it fascinating that nowadays Engineers really are preservers, rather than always creating new gadgets. Especially in the transportation industry, and I also have started a preservation project at Mohawk Northeast, trying to revitalize a bridge, [[Tomlinson Bridge]], in New Haven.
For me, I find it fascinating that there exists so many realm of different types of businesses. I have worked at a bunch of companies thus far in my life. Each company is unique In its own way, but the more I read books, related to my curiosity, the more I realize there is a huge variety in a lot of them, and how they go about managing each day. Each company is different, but the main point is, each company also has their method for fighting the drudgery of daily workload. Sometimes, it is just a matter of putting in the hours, since the work never stops, specifically when we have work, which is not a bad thing.
Though, the most important thing is, how do we actually preserve our strength in a typical day? For me, reading [[Do the Kind Thing]], by [[Daniel Lubetzky]] has provided me some answers in that realm. Being kind, and being able to sympathize and empathize, it’s a super important trait. I like Mr. Lubetszky, although I just started this book on a whim. I think it’s important that we act with kindness, whoever we are dealing with. I genuinely believe everybody has a good heart, if given the right chance, and the right environment to thrive. I have a lot of respect for business man like, [[Daniel Lubetzky]], who run their businesses with the theme of kindness. Thus, at the end of the day, I really appreciated this book, and getting his perspective on what it means to run a good business.
I have read some more books in the past month, and the important ones that are really resonating are some books that I am actually re-reading. I really like [[Tools of Titans]] by [[Tim Ferriss]]. I think this book is pretty cool as Mr. Ferriss really outlines a lot of intelligent human beings that are really thriving on our planet. Mr. Ferriss really combines a lot of things that I find to be super cool. He is able to layout so many individuals, in a way, where I am fascinated by the topic of decisions of each of the individual that he mentions. And the tools that they use, it is super fascinating. Tim Ferris has his own Podcast, which is super popular, and this book, it really is able to take those guests, and give us tools that the guests themselves use, to actually thrive on this planet. A lot of them are entrepreneurs, and they really thrive, because their strategies for gaining strength in a typical day, it really is impeccable, and super amazing to hear about.
I also am reading some more books that really resonate with me. I reread [[What Do You Care What Other People Think?]] by [[Richard Feynman]]. Somehow, I think this book was an instigator for when I initially started blogging on [[MrMoeRohan]], this site, as it’s a super important theme. I genuinely find it super awesome, and re-reading this book, I actually made the connection that, I did write about [[Richard Feynman]] on my first blog. And the title of the book is a tipping point, because I did always hesitate a lot, in regards to sharing my perspective. Who am I to share, when there are billions of people on the planet, each with amazing sets of skills. Though, just the act of writing, it does wonders for us as individuals. The more you look into things the more fascinating the topics become.
That’s why I also reread [[The Song of the Cell]], by [[Siddhartha Mukherjee]], because understanding the inner mechanisms of our body, it really is a fundamental source point, to actually understand how to thrive as human beings. I think we have to know internally, in our body, of what’s happening, to really have a sense of why we actually thrive. Thus, learning about the different types of cells that help us thrive, and help us become strong human beings, it was an important attribute that gives me insights to why I actually care myself about the things that I do.
Furthermore, I also ended up reading one more book by [[Richard Feynman]] in the last month, and it’s called [[The Character of Physical Law]]. This was a smaller book, but it was pretty packed with information. Mr. Feynman’s ability to explain details about our physical universe, it’s pretty intense, and being able to relay intense scientific knowledge, so a person like me can also understand it, it’s pretty profound. For me, just being able to describe science and physics with descriptions, it really is an incredible way to learn. Being able to listen well, it really is an amazing skill. Furthermore, being able to relay in-depth information, it really is a skill. The more we try, the better we become. That’s something [[Richard Feynman]] has taught me well. Thus, being able to read 3 books from him thus far, it really does give me a lot of wisdom, in regards to how I see the planet as well. Thus, I feel I am in a good place, and I want to continue my research, and expand upon what I actually care about. And that is being able to flourish in this world of Capitalism, while understanding the complicated knowledge that exists around us nowadays.
As people, we use so many tools nowadays. Very few actually understand the depth of knowledge that is required to create a lot of these tools. Electricity, machinery, small gadgets like cellphones and computers, they’re all super complicated to create, but we human beings use it everyday as tools. We don’t ourselves create them, but we use them, and I think we have a fundamental duty to try to understand what we actually use in a typical day. For me, this is a fascination realm of research, because, in every moment, we interact with so many fascinating forms of tools, it’s pretty mind-boggling. And our body, has a similar trait, thus understanding all this, it really does take a very long time. It’s a journey of a lifetime, that’s for sure.
